PS4 - Mock-up

So no one go to see the actual PlayStation 4 console at Sony’s press event yesterday night :( However, we know whats going to be inside and it’s impressive! PR revealed that the PS4 has a PC-like configuration that will include an AMD 8-core 64-bit x86 “Jaguar” CPU, with a AMD Radeon GPU containing 18 “compute units.” It’s capable of cranking out 1.84 TeraFLOPS to process graphics, and basically anything else game developers can muster up. It will still have a Blu-ray drive — Which is not a bad thing — It will be 6X BR (8X for DVDs) and impressive as it is, it packs 8GB of unified GDDR5 RAM capable of 176GB/sec of bandwidth. 802.11n WiFi, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI, optical out and even a legacy analog AV out will grace the boxes inputs and outputs,. No storage details were given. We’re guessing it won’t be as large as you might think due to their cloud platform.

Notable mentions, are the new software features, which include long-awaited additions like cross-game chat, and PSN Sony Entertainment Network accounts can now connect to Facebook. Other details we’ve already heard plenty about, like its instant-on “suspend mode”, preloading of content, cloud gaming and shared game experiences.
